The
Ragdoll cat has been in existence since the early 1960’s. The
late Ann Baker of California developed this beautiful, large and affectionate
cat. Within the last twenty five years, the Ragdoll has risen to the pinnacle
of popularity. The Ragdoll is a striking cat with the ability to relax and
feel as huggable as the softest child’s cuddly teddy bear. Their silky,
soft hair with medium to long length coat is virtually non-matting and sheds
minimally. Grooming a Ragdoll is a pleasure for both the kitty and the owner
making Ragdolls a true delight to own. The Ragdoll’s
strong desire for companionship and gentle sweet manner makes them the Purrfect
addition to any family lifestyle.
Ragdoll
kittens are born snow white or pale cream in color. Within the first
week the kittens begin to give us a peek as to what color and patterns can
be expected. It is an exciting time seeing the baby colors start to show. Slow
to mature, the Ragdoll kitten will continue to grow and their coats darken
until about the age of three years. A neutered male will weigh approximately
15 to 20 pounds and a spayed female about 15 pounds less. Males are normally
larger in body and structure while the female is more delicate in size. Both
make wonderful family additions and even love to be best friends with the family
dog!
Our
standards require all purebred Ragdolls to be blue eyed pointed cats. No other
eye color is permitted.
